Actually WalMart would do what every other business that is forced to raise their wages would do: raise their prices accordingly. The net effect would be nil, well except to those of us on fixed incomes............... The only thing this would achieve would be the number of $$ - the percentages would be the same. For example - the dollar menu at McD's would become the 4 dollar menu - oh wait - that's already happening (Dollar Menu & More).
The math is right, but it is using the wrong data. Wal Mart only has 1.2 million hourly employees in the US. The chart is assuming they each work 365 8 hour days. Figuring a five day work week,they would only work 260 days a year. From what I have known of Wal Mart, it is more likely that each is employee is working less than a 40 hour week, probably closer to 32 hours a week.
