A translation of the qaran by Elmir Kuliyev published in 2002 was found this week to be in violation of Russian federal law banning extremist materials. The court ruling, in the port city of Novorossiysk, has angered Russia’s top Islamic, Ravil Gainutdin, head of the Council of Muftis of Russia. He said in an open letter to President Vladimir Putin released Monday that the ruling was “illiterate” and “provocative.”
And by “provocative,” we presume that he means Muslims will be provoked to carry out even more terror attacks, two of which occurred in Russia just in the last two days.

Not only Russian Muslims, apparently. This report says that other clerics are warning of a “global unrest and uprising” in Muslim communities worldwide if the Russian government did not meet their demands to have the ruling immediately reversed.
Details of the ruling are contained in this report, which says that the court cited expert testimony from the Forensic Centre at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation (MVD) for the region which stated that the book contained:
Statements in which a person or group of persons (in particular, non-Muslims ) is portrayed negatively on grounds related to a particular religion; …. statements which address talking about the advantages of a single person or group of persons to other people on the grounds of religion (particularly the Muslims over non-Muslims ); … statements containing the positive assessment of hostile action of one group of people against another group of people on the basis of religion, specifically, Muslims towards non-Muslims; …statements of an inciting character, which can be understood as calling for hostile and violent actions by one group of people against another group of people on the basis of religion, in particular the Muslims towards non-Muslims .
Elmir Kuliev, who authored the translation, is the Director of Department of Geoculture at the Institute of Strategic Studies of the Caucasus. He was considered the leading contemporary on Russian Muslim Philosophy, and his translation is used and cited in several resources including Quransearch.org for the definitive Russian translation of the Koran.
A member of the organization Stand for Peace, Colin Cortbus, complained:
‘The judge’s decision is a sick and criminal throwback to the dark days of Stalinism and national chauvinism.
A member from the Sova Center, Russia’s unit that monitors extremist activities, said that the ruling was “misuse of anti-extremism law”. They also described it as:
Not only illegal, but ignorant and scandalous.
And they claim it will put many Muslims in Russia to be at risk for prosecution just for having the text in their possession.
A lawyer representing Kuliyev, Murat Musayev, said he will appeal the ruling. This is pure idiocy. Some local prosecutor sent this material to a local court and they together decided to ban a holy book. On the one hand there is freedom of religion in Russia, on the other they are banning fundamental religious texts.
Experts say the more than decade-old translation by Kuliyev is a respected scholarly work, one of four translations of the Koran into Russian.
Said Akhmed Yarlikapov, an expert on Islam with the Russian Academy of Sciences:
This is one step away from banning the Koran. (Yes!) This is a very high quality translation. The banning of Kuliyev’s translation is utterly unprofessional, you could ban the Bible just as easily because it also has passages that talk about the spilling of blood.
But some see the ban as a positive step towards ridding the country of radical Islamic terrorists. Someone called Khloponin, a member of a leading party in Russia (the CE) even stated that they [his party] were more than happy to pay for the deportation of those who wished to be ruled by sharia law.
My position is clear: anyone who does not want to live in Russia according to Russian, secular laws, should not live here. For them, there are states in the Middle East, go there and live.

Angry pushback against Islam in public school textbooks continues to take the country by storm
TEXAS and TENNESSEE join parents around America who are outraged that their children are being taught history with an Islamo-centric focus, with the study of Islam taking up major portions of school textbooks, while the other religions are hardly mentioned. What most people don’t realize is that approx. 80% of these history/social studies books are fully funded by the Saudis and provided free of charge to the schools.
Citizen Warrior We all know of plenty of examples of the bias in social studies textbooks revealed by various groups and individuals. Concerned Tennessee citizens formed a group called Textbook Advocates that conducted reviews of over 50 textbooks that can be found here. Many of those errors involved Islam to include incomplete information on Muhammad, overstating Islam’s influence and simple disparity in word/sentence count on discussions of Islam versus other religions. Their findings are not surprising to readers of Citizen Warrior and others who follow this topic.
The cleverly named, The Textbook Tattler was published to provide citizens with a synopsis of the typical errors found. It is likely these same errors are found in many of the textbooks found in states around the country. Tennessee’s efforts resulted in the current methodology of textbook selection to be under review and will most likely be replaced in the next legislative session. Their landmark success has inspired others to follow their lead including a group in Texas.
In early 2014 Texas begins the process of reviewing Social Studies textbooks that will be used for the 2015-16 school year. A group called “Truth in Texas Textbooks” or “Triple T” have begun recruiting volunteers from inside of Texas and outside who would be willing to help review the Social Studies textbooks that will be submitted by publishers.
Over 48 million textbooks are sold in Texas alone! This is a huge contract for publishers. Estimates range from 50-80% of school districts in the nation choose the same textbooks as those used in Texas schools. Publishers know, what sells in Texas will lead to millions of dollars in other states!
The purpose of TTT is simple, to provide Social Studies textbooks that are truthful and factual that meet the Texas Education Knowledge Standards (TEKS) as defined here. Fortunately Texas has put in place a well-defined set of standards that were recently updated with this resolution on eliminating the pro-Islamic/anti-Christian bias found in the current social studies textbooks.
TTT will not simply focus on eliminating this bias but many other “PC” related themes that are so often found in textbooks today. We are not affiliated with any other NPO or national organization but are independent and have reached out to groups and individuals around the country (including Tennessee) for volunteers who are willing to help us.
The long-term goal would be to have one site, such as www.textbookadvocates.com be the single depository of these textbook reviews being done around the country so teachers, parents, advocates can have a single one stop shopping place to go and see a consolidated list of reviews of textbooks.

Publishers get away with their PC tainted textbooks because in the past groups around the country didn’t talk to each other or communicate their findings. Building on what Tennessee has done Texas wishes to continue this movement to put these reviews, along with others, in the public domain at a single website that will give information to everyone who is interested.
Anti-smokers advocacy groups weren’t effective until they banded together against the tobacco companies and shared the data from all their findings. TTT wishes to take the same approach.
The most effective method for having an impact on your children’s textbooks may very well lie on not focusing on your own local school or state but helping Texas adopt the most accurate and factual textbooks which will in turn be likely to show up in your own school district. Additionally you can go through a process with other like-minded individuals who can help you learn the process for conducting reviews.
Collaborative online project management tools, conference calls, use of webinars and other methods will be used to coordinate the efforts of those interested in volunteering. It doesn’t matter where you live, you can help Texas and in turn help millions of other children around the country by joining TTT and volunteering. Thomas More Law Center: Duck Dynasty’s Phil Robertson’s View on Homosexuality Reflects the Catholic Church’s Teachings
With all of the filth that can be seen on television and in movies these days, the mainstream media has made it increasingly clear that there is only one thing for which there is no place: Christianity and the Bible’s teachings on homosexuality.
Phil Robertson, patriarch of the Robertson Family from A&E’s wildly popular show Duck Dynasty, is learning the hard way about the mainstream media’s sacred ground – homosexuality. Despite being a self-proclaimed “Bible-thumper” and a non-negotiable on the prominent role that faith and religion play in the Robertson Family’s life, Phil was recently “suspended indefinitely” from the show for remarks he made in a GQ Magazine profile in which he, among other things, discussed his opinions on the immorality of homosexuality.
Richard Thompson, President and Chief Counsel of the Thomas More Law Center commented:
“What Phil Robertson said about homosexuality as an Evangelical Christian in his GQ interview, reflects the teaching of the Catholic Church, and the viewpoint of a vast majority of Americans. A & E willingly capitulated to the intimidation tactics of the militant homosexuals. Remaining silent in this circumstance of religious intolerance merely emboldens militant homosexuals. Christians must mobilize and respond with the same zeal and vigor as these homosexuals.”
The discussion on homosexuality begins after this line from Robertson,
“Everything is blurred on what’s right and what’s wrong,” he says. “Sin becomes fine.”
When asked to explain what he means the article quotes Robertson as saying:
“Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there. Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men.”
Then according to the article he paraphrases Corinthians by saying:
“Don’t be deceived. Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers—they won’t inherit the kingdom of God. Don’t deceive yourself. It’s not right.”
Not a bad paraphrasing as 1st Corinthians 6:9 reads “Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality.”
Some criticize Robertson for allegedly saying homosexuals are going to hell. That’s not what he said. In fact, Robertson, in a vein similar to that of Pope Francis’ statement of “If someone is gay and he searches for the Lord and has good will, who am I to judge?” states:
“We never, ever judge someone on who’s going to heaven... That’s the Almighty’s job. We just love ’em, give ’em the good news about Jesus—whether they’re homosexuals, drunks, terrorists. We let God sort ’emout later, you see what I’m saying?”
Robertson, in his own backwoods way is reflecting the teachings of the Catholic Church on homosexuality. According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church:
“Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity, tradition has always declared that ‘homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered.’ They are contrary to the natural law . . . . Under no circumstances can they be approved.” (2357)
The Catholic Catechism’s version of Robertson’s “We just love’ em,” quote is:
“They must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity.” (2358)
Members of the Robertson Family regularly discuss religion, abstinence, family values and traditional American heritage in interviews and on the show, which is part of the show’s appeal and a large draw for its millions of fans.
Only this time, militant homosexual groups got involved.
The homosexual agenda’s number 1 priority has been to silence Christians about homosexuality. The right to Free Speech, in their opinion, does not belong to the faithful, including Phil Robertson.
The Thomas More Law Center supports the rights of Christians to freely discuss their faith, including their faith’s stance on homosexuality. As we stood by high school student Daniel Glowacki when he was disciplined by his teacher for stating that as a Catholic he opposed homosexuality, we stand beside Phil Robertson.
